I know this is an old video, but just last week petro-dollar is challenged by Saudi deciding to do oil trade in other currencies as well. This is the first step, but if dollar stops being reserve currency economic catastrophe will be huge and just i western countries but entire world. Couple of decades will be hard as world will take time to stabilise their economies. It may even lead to multiple wars

Their control over global media, and research articles is another feather up their sleeve. One that is hard to replicate.

1. They have aligned themselves so ubiquitously that everyone relies on them for a lot of their basic everyday activies. 2.They know more about you than you do yourself.
3. They have the most money to be able to affort stuff that most others wont be able to.
4. They've destroyed any possible competition and thus enjoy global domination.
5. They have the best marketing and PR teams so they look the best from the outside and any messes get cleaned up quickly.
6. They attract the best talent from around they world and pay them enough to want to stay forever.
7. They have special perks for their own, so much so that those on the outside want to join.
8. They have auxiliary programmes that are also ubiquitous in everyday life, gmail google maps, etc.
9. They have teams, manpower and money dedicated to Research and development.
The US also has some of the most highly rated universities with commensurate facilities and faculties.

Another factor is military tech. They're so advance in tech and a very centralized system to develop arms and ammunition. It's pretty impossible to replicate it. If any horrific situation occurs they're ready to roll with 1000 military tech solutions. Which no other country have.
That's one of the most important reason for being the superpower.

Those 2 are known but another Important area is that of Given a chance would u not chose MIT or Havard instead of top most chinese university? would u not spk in English than Mandarin or any other? Hence it's this area which is very vital to survivability or superpower status of Amrika.
