First... thank you for the taking the time to make this video...I run a fairly large channel and know the amount of time these take to make so I really appreciate it. I was really interested in getting one of these and your video was very precise in showing the "how to" .... the part I was most confused about. I have an acoustic set converted to E with an alesis strike pro module and an alesis studio dm 10 module ran through the same yamaha mixer you showed in the video...so that was awesome to see. I went to order it after watching this and I guess the PRO kit is on backorder til August...so big bummer there. I did see a "concert" version but you have to buy everything extra including a 1500 watt amp at an additional cost of 600..woosh!! ..Ill wait for the pro to be back in stock lol. I saved your video for future reference when I actually get it in. But thank you again for making the video and going into detail on the install.Very much appreciated sir.

I use a $50 buttkicker just screwed under the wooder plate of my throne and an old subwoofer amp. It's not that fancy but works fine.
The amp has a LPF available but since a use different outputs on my audio interface I separate the low frequencies in the DAW where the VST drumming happens.

I have both the throne thumper and the porter & davies.
They are not really the same.
They do the same function, but they give a really different feeling.
While the TT can give you the feeling on your butt, the power it have and the way the P&D is made can make your head shake because the vibrations run through the spine.
It’s like a more precise vibration.
I felt I was going stupid when I pushed it a little harder than needed, because my brain was shaking.

I partially reduced the gap between the TT and the P&D by mounting the TT shaker upside down and all the way up against the lower part of the throne seat.
Basically I tried to augment the transmitted vibrations to the seat.
I love my P&D but it’s really really expensive.
I bought it used from the uk to save some money.
The TT was expensive too; I bought it used too, it was a B-Stock.
Way cheaper but the feeling is also way cheaper.

I used to use one playing an acoustic kit live. The problem though is that acoustic kits rely on Mics so whenever we were playing on a small stage there was a LOT of bleed from the bass guitar. For electric drums or on bigger stages though it's SO good. I will say though that although the Buttkicker itself lasts FOREVER, I had multiple amps fail on me. They're very good with customer service and would replace it for me quickly but you're definitely better off getting a third party power amp instead (be careful, the transducer is 2 ohms!).

Edit: This was also years ago so their amps may be drastically improved by now.

Nice job, if i had the extra cash id get one of those butt kickers, but the one i made with the dayton puck suits my needs, for now, definitely makes playing more enjoyable, and i agree with you about when u turn it off, u miss that vibration

We route the drummer IEM mix via a Matrix on the console with a low pass filter set at 100hz to the amp that drives the butt kicker. Our drummers love it.

Great introduction to the Buttkicker, I also made a video on it and found that playing with out it is tough. Enjoyed your review and education on it. Thanks

NOW IF ONLY WE COULD ATTACH IT TO THE BASS PLAYER'S PANTS WE COULD STAY IN TIME TOGETHER.

Dayton bst-1 with a nobsound amp is a nice cheaper alternative. I use 5 bst-1 with my sim racing rig haha.

If not mentioned or asked yet, I’d be interested to know how it would work with a trigger attached to the kick drum as opposed to a microphone as the sound source. Great video. Thanks!

Hi. Great video. I’m toying with getting one. But I’m unsure how to hook it up to my EAD10. I have a Behringer xr18, EAD10, Alessis samplepad 4. Right now I’m just running mono out of the ead and sp into a dual DI box. Since I’m already using to mono output on the ead10, do you know how I would connect this so I can use my in ears and this as well? Thank you.

I’m trying to get this working on a TD17. Any pointers?

How’s the ambient volume in the room? Does it rattle like crazy?

Probably ok for a studio/practice room, but I wouldn’t lug it around for gigging.

Seems like electronic drum application was not well thought out. Great video though!
