The Ottoman Empire had colonised the whole of the region. Palestine became the name of the British Mandate AFTER WW1 and was the home of many different nations and creeds. Jews were Palestinians. Arabs were - Shia, Sunni and non-denominational. Druse. Samaritans. Christians. Until 1920 Lebanon and Syria were also part of the same administration.

The poor guys were sent on a mission by the main Colonizer Britain by Churchhill sent them to their demise to a country that was protecting its people and land. The Turks did not let thee Anzacs through and now we have a history of a battle that was devastating to all. Why would you send all of those young men to die in a far off land who did nothing to deserve it.
