lets take a moment to admire the sheer over the top symbolism, a man seeking to be like another, burns the memory of who he really is, and even still, climbs on his literal Idol's Shoulders to stand high only for it to crumble, unable to bear the weight of anything but itself, and then he is literally crushed under his Idol's giant head. All while trapped in a crumbling temple to his own selfish ego that is burning away into a magma and hellfire. Its like something out of a religious text on the terrible legacy of false prophets and the folly of hubris.

I'm glad you didn't get to physically *see* Ted Faro.
Based on what he said about cells replenishing faster then normal, and the organic mess that was shown on the hologram to be growing throughout the entire reactor room, it could be summarized the "mutations" didn't calm down, especially with him being next to a powerful reactor for 1, 000 years.
In the end, Ted Faro's outside would now look like the twisted person he was on the inside.

The symbolism and irony as well was staggering.
His choices took the world away, and he would have to live with his actions, being trapped and alone.
The first person he sees after 1, 000 years is someone who took after him. He wiped Apollo because he was worried the new humans would inherit their mistakes and called it a poison, and in the end all it did was make things worst for the new humans because here comes Ceo, trying to become the new Ted Faro and nothing changed.
And then the fail safe, flooding the building with lava, and fire, literally sending Ted Faro off into his own hell created through his own actions.

Can we all appriciate the fact, that even when his creations went rogue and set fire to the whole world, bringing upon extinction of all life on earth, Ted still kept two of them as his guards?

Part of me was kind of disappointed that mutant Faro wasn’t a boss fight, would’ve been interesting, that’s for sure

Man, I had a theory for ages that Faro kept himself alive but I did not anticipate in this fashion. This was absolutely horrifying and we didn't even need to see him to see that it was. I thought that he would preserve his mind via AI or become an evil machine but no, this was worse. I think what is more frightening to me about this was the 'sounds' and his vitals *especially* the vitals. His *blood pressure and heart rate and brain activity* the minute I saw that I knew something horrible was coming. Seeing a hologram of that 'thing' Faro has become shook me. You can kind of still see some sort of human shape amongst the mass of flesh he had become. And the fact the Ceo still recognized him in some way tells me that he might still have a face, albeit warped and gnarled. My imagination is creating so many grotesques ideas as to what he may look like.

This was dark af but it was well deserved. This asshole was so selfish that he thought he could live forever, only to become a mindless thing. He doesn't even deserve to be called even a monster, beast or animal. Even they are superior to what he is now, a giant tumor plastered to the wall. And he was such an dick that he rigged himself should he die. This fate was very well worse than death. To be in constant agony, and alone for a millennia, living in a world he destroyed.

While I enjoyed the mission and can appreciate the artistic choices, right this second (having just played it), I’m mad I didn’t get to kill Ted. And I get it - this series isn’t really like that, for the most part. Aloy’s goal is saving people, not destroying them. But still…after this guy spent 2 games towering in the background as the mythical would-be god who destroyed the world and still had the gall to be sacrosanct about humanity’s future in the aftermath…part of me was really, really hoping to face him.

I don’t hate the way it played out instead. I guess it wasn’t what I was expecting, is all. Which is my problem.

This was GENIUS delivery by the game developers. Keep in mind that HFB is rated for teens. Had they shown what Faro looked like, they’d have been seriously pushing the game into M because of how horrifying he’d have looked.

Dunno why but I never got the "Current is pulling me South" cutscene... I pushed the boat out, she started rowing & next thing I know I'm pulling up to the beach... Does the Weather have to be bad when you push the boat out in order to get that extra cutscene or something?

Was enjoying the storyline until I entered Faro's tomb and just fell through the floor without any object collision lol. Gotta love the bugs xD

I just finished this quest and along the gameplay I was questioning. Isn't ceo look more like travis tate than ted faro? Am I missing something? I checked character bios and he really looks like travis tate

I put off the thunderjaw boss fight for three days to get better arrows, better equipment, better everything and I still died I'm still struggling on the boss fight today, and come to find out they sent my lvl 26 self to fight the giant two-shot lvl 48 machine. Guerilla comedy clearly isn't your thing.
