Is full frame better than aps-c crop sensor cameras? I put the Sony A7siii up to the Sony FX30 and I think the results might shock you.

I shoot our whole world trip for 1 year on the Fujifilm XS10 (APSC). It was really affordable, good for vlogging with the viltrox 13mm F1.4 and it’s sooo small. Also good choices for wide open lenses with great DOF.

By the end I upgraded to the S5 II. and although it was by far the better camera, I ended up selling it again. Just overkill for me although we earn some money with our channel and do it semi professionally. And lenses for Lumix are just so expensive…

At the end it always comes down to what you need. But looking at the FX30 or the Fujifilm XS20 - pair these cameras with some nice lenses and it’s good enough for most needs. I also didn’t recognize that much of a big difference in dynamic range between the XS10 vs. and S5 II. Even in V-Log. And your point with low light is definitely true - but on the other hand wide open lenses are more affordable on APSC.

Full frame is definitely not the holy grail imo. Especially for beginners, enthusiast’s or even semi professionals.

Purchased the FX30 about 1.5 months ago for all the exact reasons you mention. Honestly, the cons are not even really cons because you can mitigate for them quite easily. The only one I somewhat don't like is the amount of noise at 120 fps. It's actually quite noticeable.

Yes. Yes it is. I've been using a combo of FF and APSC for 13+ years and FF just looks nicer, background falloff is nicer and the overall image looks more filmic. Phone footage depth of field and image quality is getting too similar to APSC now imo, I like FF as it has a more professional look because phones are still way off from getting the FF look.

I have this camera, love the size of the lenses. Here is a little secret: Use a custom LUT in the picture profiles, PPLUT1-4. You get the dynamic range of Slog 3 with the easy workflow of PPOFF. Best of both worlds. I have my Slog 3 off. You also get usable clean high ISO this way. BTW, this camera, unlike other Sony cameras, loves low key. Spot meter white at +1 and its like.. wow.

its basically a day camera..this is the same formula sony did with the sony a6300 to the sony a7 line. We're so advance in tech right now that we should be able to get better at aps-c cameras when it comes to low light. But if you shoot in the day, get this camera for sure because there's nothing different from the sony fx3. Everything is the same, its just one camera is better at low light than the other 🤷‍♂

I wonder if you can make Sony fx30 footage look like Red Komodo footage.
