As the body goes down....Kinetic energy is increasing and Potential is decreasing when the object goes up....the vice versa happens....Hence energy is conserved

When body comes down PE decreases, KE increases and when it goes up it converts it's KE into PE and then it keeps going on and since gravitational force is a conservative force, it's energy remains conserved
