My grandpa served in Vietnam. He was 17 and made to crawl through those tunnels because he was 5’4. To this day he can’t be in confined spaces without having a panic attack.

Have to say the Vietnamese were ingenious for having this setup.

It is also a nightmare for people with arachnophobia. What if there is a spider there?!

Edit: I don't get why people understood I meant back then in the times of war, I mean nowadays as a tourist attraction lol. (Also little side note, It feels crazy to find comments from so long ago, i almost can't believe I have been a living, breathing person for years now)

When my teacher taught us this a few years ago she said coochie tunnels and we all laughed so hard, but the Vietnamese exchange students were like "that's not how you pronounce it"

When the war strikes, being outside is even scarier than being in the tunnel itself.

She should have mentioned that they built the whole damn life underground: kitchen, nurseries, hospitals, households, meeting rooms and stuff. The forefathers were tough as nuts.

Dam WTF they’re smart. I’m surprised you’re able to fit in those holes because they have a lot of equipment.

These are some of the biggest holes tho.
The worst part is that they would fill with water some places soo you would need to dive and surface in a U shaped tunnel without seeing anything.

technically, neither side won during the Vietnam war. there were reported over 58, 000 american casualties and the Vietcong suffered several times more casualties than the Americans. however, because america still failed to keep communist control out of the region, it made retreat a necessity. Laos and Cambodia fell to communist control soon after as well so technically neither side won.
