LYRICS

She told me, why
She told me lies
Always take care of this

I told her how
I've always stayed
Always waiting for nothing

When I get out of here
When I leave you behind
I'll find that the years passed us by

When I get out of here
When I leave you behind
I'll find that the years passed us by

And I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow
Yes, I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow

When you get out of here
When you leave me behind
You'll find that the years passed us by

When you get out of here
When you leave me behind
You'll find that those years passed us by

And I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow
Yes, I can see you
Running through the fields of sorrow

the fact that this song ends too soon is a crime

My wife succumbed to mental illness. It completely changed her. We were the best of friends. We were pronounced “the best couple ever” at our wedding. Two years ago she was diagnosed with conversion disorder. I watched her decline and watch her personality become dark. We are going through a divorce. I do t wish this pain on anyone. This song exactly describes my situation. Music has saved another

The tragic part of this song is that the vocal lines harmonize perfectly, but never meet. And that's how you build a song with a story...

Opeth make me think of autumn for some reason. They sound like autumn would sound, if it made a sound... Particularly hope leaves and harvest.

Sometimes all you need is this music, low light and deep thoughts...

Man, do you feel those juicy bass riffs Martin Mendez is making? Amazing and very ominous feeling to the whole song.

My favorite Opeth album. It combines the best parts of old Opeth and new Opeth. I wish they would make another album like Watrershed.

Hardly any other band can come up with this kind of variation and versatility.

Truly an awesome song. Her voice is beautiful. there's something kind of chilling when she sings "you found that the years passed us by". It's a weird feeling, like if depression and hope mixed.

This song has an underrated bass line. It's so cool.

I love that both vocal lines are perfectly harmonizing with each other, but are not in the same place so they can only be heard separately. I always think that its because of the lyrics and the whole style and concept of the album. Watershed for me is a concept album about separation.

One word: gorgeous!

I was so hooked on this song that when I put Watershed (2008) to play for the first time I just couldn't let the album go on, because I basically hit the replay to this song, I think, roughly five times in a row. At 1:50, when I heard Nathalie Lorichs' voice I was shocked: what a masterpiece. The progression of the song each time the riff "And I can see you
(...)" appears (1:18; 1:33; 2:21; and 2:35) is epic.

This song encapsulates the sheer elegance and beauty this band is capable of creating
