Canada announces new Caregiver pilot program offering direct permanent residence status on arrival

Canadian Immigration Minister Marc Miller announces new caregiver pilot program that will grant direct permanent residence status for home care workers as soon as they arrive in Canada. Furthermore, he intends to make existing caregiver pilot programs permanent.

Eligibility criteria for new pilots include a minimum of level 4 in language proficiency and high school diploma equivalency with recent relevant work experience and a full-time job offer.

Please make sure these caregivers who come to Canada as landed immigrants or permanent residents must work as caregivers for a minimum of 3 years. As a permanent resident, you are allowed to work any profession. The program should be clear with the requirements. Canada is so desperate to welcome caregivers.

Great! Now simplify the Permanent Residency process for existing caregivers who are already in Canada with caregiver experience so that they can have status as well, God knows they are deserving of profiting from this long overdue change the most. That's literally the only fair way to go about it.

So you "close one door" and "open another" - what a joke. Why do you need so many people oversees to work here? Our people are not good enough? There are so many unemployed women in this country who would make outstanding caregivers, or who are currently caregiviers and do not receive the status that you give to the people you are recruiting. Why doesn't this country give tax credits and create programs to elevate the lives of Canadians when we so desperately need it now? I believe the strategy you are proposing is a flawed one and needs to be ripped up. Thee needs to be a new vision of Canada because its failing right now.
