Bob gets upset at the existence rich people, thinking that there is a permanent class of people at the top, and a permanent class at the bottom, but Seamus helps him understand that over time, people are actually constantly moving up and down the income distribution.

Most of us start nearer to the bottom and work our way up as we gain experience and skills.

I think that income mobility in a capitalist society is the most important thing because if a system facilitates growth, then people will work hard to achieve wealth and status. This leads to more new entrepreneurs trying to come up with creative ideas to satisfy the consumers. A system like this leads to a win for both parties and the main reason why capitalism is so great.

The other misconception people have about the 1% is that they are all multi-millionaire CEO types, if anything those CEOs are the top 1% of the 1% or the 0.01%, the rest of the 1% are the successful entrepreneurs and highly paid employees.
