Gosh - been listening to this hero all day. I don’t serve..I shouldn’t even chime in here..but my life has been filled with these “extra baggage” - the past, assumptions, overthinking it, overdoing it, burning myself out…AND coming of it now and not having any peace of mind! This message is strong and applies to LIFE!!

Literally universal advice for joining the military in general just shut up and listen. I see way too many people working themselves up pior to joining at meps staying up late trying to study or be prepared, while what you should be doing is getting enough food and sleep because you're probably staying up for awhile day one of basic training or boot camp. Left foot then the right one day at a time.

I've taken the difficult road my whole life always challenging myself at 52 I fell to a certain death and survived a 60 second walk took hours I then climbed in my truck to call for my own medivac shattered hip shattered pelvis broken right shoulder 10 broken ribs bruised femur bruised lungs severe hypothermia over 100 000 pull-ups and 100 000 pull-ups hours of cardio and misery and suffering beyond belief I am almost fully recovered currently 58 and 6 months ago was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer 2 surgeries later cancer free. Glad I prepared . People have no idea of their capabilities IF YOU PREPARE AND BELIEVE

A strong message and lesson there!! We all carry this extra baggage filled with perception and assumptions and it’s hard to achieve anything with all that extra stuff..AND find happiness with all of that even. Deal with what’s in front of you..don’t add to it!

Essentially they are giving you an option. There is no consequence to what option you choose but one option is very difficult. Don’t creat problems for yourself. Now if the instruct said you and infiltrating and this is expected by the enemy. You bet I’m not taking a road.

Death will take anyone Delta or no Delta. At the very foundation of being a professional operator is maintaining the mindset of persistence and adaptability at all times whether you make the unit or not. Knowing you have the freedom to accentuate your abilities and gifts with a high degree of precision and clarity. You’ll have a greater chance of making it when you realize that all it takes is having the mindset of a Delta operator as soon as possible and using that as your foundation to build upon. It’s something we can all do NOW!!!

I grew up wanting to go Delta but I didn't prepare. My mental strength has never been enough. Would have been a great adventure I regret not having prepared myself better.

It depends on the objective. If I know an enemy force is nearby. I am going to take the most difficult terrain because once I hold it, I will have the best defense. Also enemies like to monitor chokepoint.

Some weren’t given the decision as you say, I was forced to take the difficult terrain! That briefs well but it depends on what set of tasks you were given!

Thinking soldiers i get taking the easy option is the better idea but some times youve got no choice id rather go the more difficult routine more because when it come too the easier one its nothing always a little further
