Nadia Shares Emotional Update on Husband Mark's Sobriety | Loose Women

Nadia and her family are celebrating 20 years since her husband, Mark became sober. It wasn’t an easy journey for the couple with Nadia admitting to kicking Mark out of the house if he couldn’t get sober. Thankfully, Nadia’s tough-love approach paid off and their story had a happy ending, however, that’s sadly not always the case. Do our women think tough love is the best approach when it comes to helping a troubled loved one?

Twenty years sober - amazing. I am sober and have been for a long time. For me it was my children that wanted me to stop. I was functioning, working etc. But, I drank everyday after work for a
long time. I know if I started again, my daughter would not want me around her children. For me, my family are worth me staying sober.

Like her daughter, I grew up with a father who was an alcoholic. He stopped drinking when I was a baby so I have no memory of it. However I was raised knowing about it and it definitely impacted my upbringing. We were never taught that alcohol was bad only that sometimes it affects people in harmful ways.
