I tell you what will happen : The Chinese they will buy things from other place very little from USA and the Americans they will lose a valuable market which they won’t get it back even if they low the tariffs. This was a awake call for chiense to diversify and looking up to more other countries to make trade.... who lose ? USA of course !

Put tariffs .... deficit increases, agriculture subsidies rise, agri exports fall, china exports diversify, de-dollarization gains traction. Who wins exactly? I don't know.

In Canadian supermarkets today- the agricultural products that used to be from the USA are now on the shelves and they originated in SOUTH AFRICA.

Donnie Fats doesn't have the first clue and Secretary Ross is desperately looking for a way to get out of there before the sheriff arrives.

The US is totally lost.

Lets be more civilized and drop vulgarity here. Only emphasized that China did not surrender despite the extremely hash WW2 conditions. That fighting spirit will be extended to the tariffs trade war.

Only stating a fact. Isn't this what we are seeing now ?

China makes it impossible for us to ship goods there with extremely high tariffs already in place.
We can have all of the stuff they sell at Walmart made in Malaysia or Indonesia or the Philippines we do not need China – they cannot steal the technology they steal anywhere but the United States.
People who do not see that this country is gearing up for a future war for United States are very simple minded – and the billions of trade surpluses are what they are using the fund their army and their burgeoning navy— which wants to completely control the world shipping lanes through the South China Sea.

It’s hard to believe that all of the previous American presidents let this go on for so long – although the Clintons and Al Gore were caught directly taking illegal campaign contributions from them in exchange for this rape of America.

Tariffs can't deny tariffs

We weren't denying their so high (unrighteous) tariffs for many years

How could a wealthier country with high costs of living, operating costs, labor costs, energy costs, etc ever expect a poorer nation with relatively low manufacturing costs and low wages to match the value of consumption of those much more expensive goods?!?!

China got to where they are by stealing, cheating, and lying. If this war goes on, china will collapse in six months. Their economy is built on used toilet paper. It is to no surprise the Chinese elite don't wanna live in china, they all want out.

What about China put 300% Tax on all products made in USA?

What if you wanted to build a factory in Canada and Canada required you to give them ownership in your company ? What if you agreed and Canada then stole the IP of the company ?

The way I see it is that because we import more, our consumers will end up paying more.

Tariffs on Chinese goods is a tax on the American people not the Chinese. Not sure why so many Americans would support paying extra taxes.
As China’s currency is devalued it doesn’t just offset the US tariffs but makes Chinese goods more attractive around the world. This will only speed up Chinas ability to diversify and become less reliant on the US as a market for their goods.
As for the trade chart. I would be curious to see the breakdown of how much of the trade deficit is actually goods sold by American corporations from China.
Regarding stealing IP I’m sure over the years ides have been “borrowed” by many countries including the US. Every country has their own patent system or ways of protecting ideas, they all have different rules. This is only a theory, but my guess is we are starting to see a more educated population in China. They are in major construction projects and starting a space program. This experience will only make them less reliant on others.

Any deal is better than no deal. I hope both sides can agree to something and address each other trade concerns.

The negotiation with US is pointless. After the first agreement was signed, US just teared up it. That leaves no room for Chinese, but ignore US. The only quest from China would be that, Don't ring me anymore.
