If you have people you want to give gifts but don’t know as well or a big family, I like to do a “little basket of joy” which has a bunch of assorted gifts that I think people will like and I let people pick a few things they like out! That way people get something they will use and like, and you still get to gift things! My fav things to put in these baskets are things like thrifted trinket dishes, hair accessory (this year I hand made hair bows), candles, small notebooks, pretty pens, teas, etc. it’s so fun and I love watching people light up when they find something they love!

I gave my mom what was essentially a fancy binder to keep a bunch of recipes she got from my grandfather after my grandmother died. I also stocked it with page protectors and dividers so she could use it right away without needing to go but something else.

Another thing to gift are homemade mixes. I like to give out jars of homemade cocoa mix or maybe a brownie mix and a nice baking dish. They work particularly well for people that you know but don't necessarily know well. I try to remember to give things like that to my mail lady because she has a rather thankless but important job, especially at this time of year.

I gifted my friends experiences for their last birthdays. One friend got a cinema membership, one got a Chinese cookery class, another got a pottery class and another got a baking workshop! And in return I got a cinema membership myself. It was my first year gifting like this, although tbf usually we don't get each other things because we have just run out of stuff to give each other!
The last physical gift I got a friend was a copy of a cookbook that I had myself and then I annotated it with suggestions/tips on certain recipes I had tried or recommended.
Maybe it's just my circles but I feel like gifts are falling out of fashion A) because people are poorer and B) because we don't want any more junk in our houses lol
Great video as always 💝

I also think that buying someone games, like a boardgames or something is really nice especially if they like playing games

I loveee gifting bookmarks with books, it's such a nice personal touch! I make collagey bookmarks that match the book, the person or the occasion, maybe with a little note on the back so it's like a card at the same time :)) Also: great video! I think it's so important to be thoughtful and mindful with gifting and I like your tips so much!

Omg what a wonderful video 😭 thoughtful gifts are my favorite part of this time of the year and mixing it with the chaotic customization that will take place will make a huge impact!! Definitely little things that have important meaning is my favorite by far, since we’re taking customization to new heights

I love how you emphasize thoughtful gifting! The idea of personalized and sustainable gifts really resonates with me—especially the photo album idea. It’s such a sweet way to cherish memories! Thanks for sharing these tips; they’re refreshing in a season that often feels so commercialized. Happy December! 🎄✨

Love your list! Personally I'm a "refill my empties" kind of person. I have enough things, and I am very particular about the things that I need.I'd rather buy them myself. But if you treat me to nice food? Give me some luxurious soap or cream? I'm SO in.
Other stuff I enjoy is just spending quiet time with the people I love, because that's what's hardest to come by in our modern life. Usually I'll just ask the person to have a chill evening where we cook and watch a movie or play a board game.

I appreciate the amount of time and effort you put into making this! I had given up on gift guides as it feels like most are geared towards fitting in as many amazon affiliate links as possible, instead of well thought out ideas.

Also I LOVE the idea of a vintage filofax, might even use that idea for myself since it seems like such a nice way to keep a memory journal 😍

Love all of your thoughtful & sustainable ideas!!! Plus all of your photo examples are so inspiring & beautifully explain what you’re talking about! Sometimes people talk & give suggestions, but I can’t visualize how to make it look good. Also, I appreciate all the ideas for thrifted items because sometimes it feels weird to give people “used” items, but when you show examples of unique & vintage items, that makes it more appealing like a personalized or family heirloom 🤭 Christmas has gotten so consumerist & this flips it back to thoughtfulness & sending love. ❤️

Great video! I had bought my mother a Mason Pearson boar bristle hairbrush for Christmas for this very reason. I always try to get others things they will use that cannot go to waste!

Absolutely loved this! One of my favorite gifts to date for board game lovers is a subscription to Board Game Arena, which is a virtual game platform like Netflix where you can play board games with friends or strangers even if you don't live in the same place. I also have gifted local food items that would be harder to find near the recipient, so it's something special for them. I also have gifted digital patterns for crocheting and embroidery for those who I know who love those.

a good alternative to cellophane is just using fabric. At Christmas we always had to have a trash bag for gift unwrapping and i found it so wasteful so i wrap gifts in fabric now and it's great

I gift my family and friends often times self made things. Like for my boyfriend and sister, both of them like taking long baths, I made bath salt and bath bombs using the lavender that grows in my mum's garden. I made soaps for.my whole family too. My grandma once wanted a new winter hat so a corcheted one for her.
My dad really likes history so I always gift him books related to the topics he likes. He rereads his books every once in a while so it's usually worth taking up more space in his book shelf.
I started making jewellery for my mum, sister and friends too. You can good quality beads (glass beads, freshwater pearls) for relatively cheap. When they break I can replace them.
I often times ask my family and friends what they want or their feedback on previous gifts so I can improve getting things for them that they really enjoy.

These are all such cute gift ideas… I'm definitely going to look into the library stamp for one of my friends, and the olive oil dispenser too! I'm thinking of gifting my friends homemade jam – easy to make, persimmons are in season where I live, and I can reuse jam jars + make little labels for them too. The other thing I'm thinking about is making little sets of magnets for some of my friends, so, buying craft magnets and gluing on little laminated drawings or tiny rag dolls!

such a beautiful video full of great tips! i love buying thoughtful gifts that last a long time and can be used for multiple purposes. I bought an infinity planner from burga for my friend because she likes to plan everything (workouts, meals, her daily routine) so she can use it for all of these🤗

I like to make cuticle oil (shea butter, jojoba oil, squalane oil, etc.) and pour into small amber glass jars - it's really useful for the winter months!

Such amazing ideas omg thank you!! I pulled out my notebook in the middle of the video to write down some ideas, this was so helpful! Absolutely love the sustainable aspect of this as well

I so agree. I love dumb stuff, but SPECIFIC dumb stuff - when people just gift me random novelty items I feel so unseen (and I have to try and find a new destination for them, ugh. I mean, it can happen that one misses the mark, but I hate it when people don't even try). That's an important distinction in the sustainability discourse: sometimes I see objects demonized because they are funny looking, novelties, etc, and "they are useless, people will get tired of them and they will end up in a landfill". SPEAK FOR YOURSELF, I have repaired the bill of my duck-shaped umbrella countless times. I also try my best to get gifts that are good quality and will last the person years or possibly a lifetime but that match their interests and personality. Jewelry in a solid metal (not plated) is one of my favourite gifts, often as a collective one, of course, BUT it has to match the recipient's taste - for example we got this beautiful gold charm with an engraved flower, in a botanical illustration sort of style, from a Greek artisan on Etsy for a friend with a very Urban Outfitters trinkets- oriented taste. She wears it all the time. I have not seen her wear the pearl charm she has gotten in the same occasion even once.

I’ve listened to this video twice already! Because I love how elegantly you put all of these suggestions!

It’s often tradition in my house to have a Christmas list and ask for things you want. But for the first time this year I’ve included stuff I DON’T want in my list. Especially as I’ve moved, I’ve got rid of so much stuff and seen what I already own a lot of. It was interesting though with my last birthday, I literally said I wanted comic con tickets and that’s it. This kind of freaked out my Mum and she was like, “but what stuff do you want”. It’s interesting how gift giving is so materialised more and more nower days. I’ve been really learning that this year for myself and through therapy . Yes she bought the tickets but ended up buying a lot of stuff that appealed to more her than me.

I also found your pj recommend interesting. I adore getting pjs for Christmas when asked for. When I first saw the recommendation I was shocked at the price. I really saw this a gift for someone who can has a well paid job. But I also argued in my mind that, somethings we should spend more money on to ensure quality like beds, pillows and you can also fit pjs as we wear these on such a regular basis. And of course the price is due the better ethical standards and high quality materials.
