I believe the style of light fixture is “Art Nouveau” and it’s probably from around 1910 to 1920. It’s beautiful and what a great find

I absolutely love that light fixture!! I wonder if you can use Google Lens or the Visual Lookup feature on the light fixture to figure out where its from and its history/story? I have done that with old antique kitchen utensils to identify them

Boil painted hardware in a combo of water and baking soda (1 qt water to 1/4 cup baking soda) let simmer for a couple hours, or over night, in a crock pot.. It helps take paint off so much faster and easier.

For what it’s worth - my husband’s aunt used to own a Persian rug store with her husband. If it’s a quality vintage rug (handmade, wood, made in the Middle East, etc.) they can often be cleaned and many of the stains come out! At one point, my husband found a rug in a house that was set to be town down. The rug was absolutely gross, but was able to be repaired, cleaned, and resold for a fair amount of money. Don’t rule out the stained vintage rugs if you have the budget to repair and clean them!

In the day, when your house was built, housewives loved maroon(purplish, rose, cranberry) colored rugs. It has a rich appearance and the sunshine reflects off it great.

Great job! I have to admit that I actually liked that rug with the wallpaper, but now I can't wait to see what you have now. I LOVE that light fixture! If I had to guess I would have guessed East Lake -- like your other hardware. But it looks fantastic and it is so bright! That table is gorgeous and that your father-in-law made it makes it priceless! Yay for having another room done.

The chandelier has an art deco feel to me. You should cover your dining table while working on different things if you want to preserve it for posterity. I was cringing when you were cleaning the frame and picture. ❤️😬

The light is beautiful and a great find! You had to do a little work to clean it up but it is awesome and perfect for your house! Also, the table your father in law made is beautiful

Try using an old crock pot with water, to help remove the paint from your door hardware. It works.😊

It is looking awesome in there. Love the light fixture!!! If you find an old crock pot at a thrift store, grab it and cook your hardware. It causes the paint to peal right off with no damage to the metal surfaces. I found my vintage rugs at a habitat store and then had them cleaned. It came out to about 125.00 per rug when all said and done. You guys are doing fantastic!!

You remind me of the Victorian house renovation that my wife and I did several years ago. That amount of work creates great memories. May your marriage survive this time as well as mine did.

When you do your ceiling, you may want to consider getting a ceiling light medallion that goes around the light, where it is attached into the ceiling. To get an idea of what I mean, just Google ceiling light medallion. They were really popular in old farmhouses. They come in many sizes and can be plain or fancy. They can also come in plaster, plastic, metal, etc. I suggest a reproduction lightweight plastic one, that looks like plaster.

You'll get the rest of the material before you know it! It's looking great. Love the table and light fixture!

I gravate towards blue and yellow in a kitchen. Colbalt blue to yellowish gold. Even my stand mixer is yellow.

This was so fun to see, loved everything together so far! Crazy thing is, I have a china cabinet that belonged to my Mamaw's, then my Mom. It looks exactly like yours, I love it, get lots of compliments on it. Will take photo to send you one day. Everything is fun at this stage. ❤

Wonderful light fixture! Knowing you I bet you will stumble on an antique rug at a garage sale. I bought some blue and white china at a when we w garage sale 50 years ago when we lived in our first house which was built in 1870 and I still have those pieces.
