I'm letting you in on how I overseed and pre emerge in the Fall. It's a strategy that I have used for the past 3 seasons and I call it the Seed-EM strategy.

I highly recommend going extremely light on the pre-em or skipping it all together. I tried this method last season and it didn’t work out well. I seeded and waited about 60 days until spraying prodiamine and I had some serious issues. Looked thick and great going into the winter and by Spring most of the grass died off or I could literally pull it out due to root pruning. If anything, I would go with something like Dimension with Dithiopyr since it has less root pruning compared to prodiamine. I overseed every year with zero issues so I know it had to be the pre-em doing all the damage…

Risky risky but the 45 day apart helps. Great info Pj I always say the same better to do a pre emergent than no pre emergent. I love your yard such an amazing difference throughout the years. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

I have the same dilemma each year! Poa was bad this year... I couldn't get seed down early, but I'll do a late app anyway. Love the shirt too!

What part of country are you in northeast

I only use pre-emergent in the spring only. Never thought I could do so in the fall.
I did over seed late August but left the crabgrass because I did not want to risk hurt the new seed. So waiting till spring.

Hey PJ 👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾... This information is always needed. In Ohio I just aerated and over-seeded last weekend. It has rained this week so I will be watering this weekend. Will wait 2 weeks before I mow. Hopefully, I can get in a couple of mows before the leaves fall. I plan on pre-emerging by Halloween.
