Teamsters union declines to endorse either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump | BBC News

One of America's most influential labour unions has declined to issue a US presidential endorsement for the first time since 1996.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters has 1.3 million members across the US and Canada and said it had received "few commitments on top Teamsters issues" from either Democratic nominee Kamala Harris or Republican nominee Donald Trump.

The move is a major blow to the Harris campaign's efforts to win over working-class voters with less than 50 days before election night.

Voters in the battleground state of Michigan have been discussing the issues concerning them heading into November’s elections.

The thing is lots of Teamsters are members who were not paid by Trump projects, but the voting base has social groups that are connected to Trump voters.

So approx 59% of teamster members will vote for Trump on election day whilst approx 41% will vote for Harris. Overall union endorsement doesn't really matter one way or the other.

As a union member all my life, growing up my father worked for Bethlehem steel as a Union Steelworker, as an adult I worked 40 years in the construction industry as a union carpenter, voting republican is just like putting a gun to your head and pulling the trigger. During the 70’s 80’s, and 90’s any bill introduced in Congress by a republican, was for the sole purpose of union busting. They would only introduce it when they were sure of success. The size of my local went from 1500+ members to at one point less than 100, now about 300. The size of the city where I live has more than doubled. Wages froze but contractor profits went up. The average price of a home in my neighborhood is now 10+ times what I paid for mine, while wages are about 2 times, to 3 times what I was making when I bought mine. That’s why home buying is so hard. And that applies to groceries, household purchases, and just about anything else you buy. This is what happens when you vote anti union. This is something your leadership should never let you forget. In order to vote republican and say you support unions is like voting with your head up your ass. And if you’re a teamster you must have it there when you vote on union leadership also. VOTE BLUE!!!
