In high school a kid in my shop class tried to cut a golf ball on the bandsaw. When is started going nuts he tries to grab it, resulting in a tiny injury. Be careful.

I can’t believe you actually demonstrated that. I’m really glad you have both your thumbs.

The way I think of a band saw is usually nothing goes wrong with a band saw but when something goes wrong, it really goes wrong.

I love it when he looks at the camera and almost sticks his arm into the saw 👏

Thank you for making these types of vids. When is the next season of Making Fun? My daughter and I love it! We love making stuff together

The upper blade guide should be set just above the work piece. This supports the blade properly and offers some protection to the operator (if it hasn't already been stated).

Look up the video where Adam savage tries to cut an aluminum foil ball in half on a band saw. Thought he was gunna loose a finger for sure.

The base woodshop in Pearl Harbor had an accident where a sailor cut four fingers off a decade ago trying to cut a 6" log on a 7ft tall band saw. After surgery, he walked away with two and a half fingers, just enough to hold a mug. They installed saw stop upgrades on everything they could. A couple months later another sailor turned the first joint of three fingers into pink mist using the joiner without a guard. Due to stupidity, the woodshop was no longer allowed to be a temporary duty.

There is no better teacher for the bandsaw.

So the lesson is, when you don't hold something tight and ram it into the blade with just your finger tips you inevitably lose control.

The thing to remember is wood shop equipment is very similar to butcher shop equipment, both are great at cutting meat.

Same with table saws and miter saws. I even knew this, and still put some thicker round stock in my miter saw. Thankfully I had just started wearing a face shield around my saws. That thing flew at me like a baseball from a pitching machine. Deafening crack against the shield. Probably saved me some teeth. Dumb move on my part, but I've never done it again.

This is everything that you don't want to do around a saw blade. I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it, but it should definitely be in the title.

I’m a butcher and a cabinet maker. Cutting bones on a band saw gives you a titans grip 😂 I don’t need a clamp for my cabinet making anymore haha

A kid in my high school was in a program called O-tech. It was a place to learned skilled trades while still in high-school. Anyway he was doing something similar to this and came back to school the next day, 2 digits down. Be safe everybody!

I want to cut a plank of wood to be very thin.
Like 1/16" thin. What saw would you use for this?
Band saw, table saw?
Thanks Jimmy
