100 pounds of rice, 50 pounds of beans and 50 pounds of other grains stored away in mylar bags + oxygen absorbers. They will last 25-30 years like that in a cool, dark place that's temperature controlled. Also stocked up on propane, and other types of fuel. Glad to see others are becoming more prepared and aware. ♥

Also don't forget to stock up on junk food. Even though it's not nutritious, you'll be thankful to have something sweet or savory when times are stressful. It's a good morale booster.

I’ve been watching your channel for several years and love it so much!
My parents were small kids in the Great Depression, born 1931 and 1933. I never understood why mom hoarded canned goods. After she passed in 1988, then my dad in 1991, I found canned goods that were decades old. Looking back, I know why and thankful I was already married (1985) and still have my wonderful in-laws. I have learned and observed how the Depression still affects how they live to this day! These are the treasures that can teach us how to survive on little money, food and resources. We need to learn from this generation before they’re all gone. Have a Blessed day and a Happy Easter!

I had nothing! So started with a two week supply of water and I also went to Smiths to stock up during their .49 cent pasta deal and case lot sale. Thank you for the inspiration!!

Although we eat whole food plant based nutrients, my storage included foods that sustain us as well as canned whole foid veggies & fruits. Doing inventory this week to see what I need to eat up, restock, dispose of. Guessing the ship blocking the canal will be a reason for retailers to raise prices yet again. Need a generator - time to spend my stimulus. I garden & love it! Planted spring foods & hope to share my harvest with neighbors. I write exp date on top of lid so I know when to add it to my meal plan. Feels good to be more prepared.

During the month of March I worked on canning tomatoes we have a upick farm near me and every weekend I went and picked tomatoes and canned them. I canned 75 pounds of tomatoes. Second thing I worked on was my wheat. I am moving away from bagged flour to making my own. I purchased a grain mill and stocked up more wheat varieties

Evaporated milk can be used by adding water for cereal. It can also be used for making mashed potatoes or other recipes that require milk. I prepared with pasta sauce, coffee and canned corn beef.

My parents were born in 1922 and 1930. My mom kept the pantry stocked to excess. She saved nearly everything with the purpose of using it again. She believed in reuse, recycle and restore; and my dad supported her in most of what she did. My father was a believer in budgeting and thrift. I fell back on this way of life in 2020 with the result that I greatly reduced my grocery runs in the latter part of last year and through the winter.

Stocked up on canned goods last week. Peanut butter, condensed soups, tuna, pickles, mayo, jams and jellies, beans, etc. Thought I'd put some of that stimulus money to good use!

I have 5 kiddos. My 14 year old son is OBSESSED with applesauce. And he likes the unsweetened Motts cups. So I usually just buy 6-8 boxes of it and when he gets low, I buy more. He literally walks around the house eating it out of the cup, no spoon. It is just his thing. LOLZ

My plan this month is organization! I'm out of room in my backup pantry! I also need to clean the garage! Need to move stuff from the house to the garage! Need to downsize and get rid of extra stuff! I tend to keep everything for sentimental reasons! Lord help me!

Here is an old pear recipe.. buy pear halves, put a small amount of mayonnaise in the center of the pear, place graded cheese on top of it. Back in the 1950s this was called a pear salad! I don’t care for mayonnaise, so I just use cheese in that round area and then put a little pear juice on top of the cheese. Try this for your children. Peaches are great with cottage cheese . Just serve them together with a little of the canned juice. Great ways to eat fruit.

Love this series ❣️ just for info for UK Peeps with water 1 gallon is approx 4.5 liters and in most supermarkets you can get a 5L bottle hope this helps.
Not sure if this is the right thing to be doing but for grains I am taking a portion ✖️ that by the number of people and ✖️ by the number of days. So for an example:
Pasta around 200g ✖️ 4 people = 800g
800g ✖️ 14 days = 11200g = 11kg 200g
So that way I have 2 weeks supply of every grain so my grain supply is over 2 weeks. Sorry if this makes no sense

My pantry is overrun. I only got a few thing for extra flavor to prevent food fatigue in an emergency. Got a couple bbq sauces, 3 jars of pesto sauce and some shelf stable Parmesan cheese.

I have not noticed my local Wal-Mart's or grocery stores stocking long term #10 cans of food. I'll keep an eye out though. This month I will be working a ton in my vegetable garden. I've got a ton going on now, and a ton going in this month. I live in South Georgia, so our season is early and fast growing! Food storage supplies I notice I need are pasta, dried beans and canned green chilies. I just stocked up on laundry detergent and sani wipes, but need cat litter soon. Don't forget your fur baby supplies!
