Well the main thing coming from the pairing will be: 'Is Alex actually that good?' or 'Is Logan really that bad?'

Regardless of how you regard either Carlos or Alex, it's undeniable that this pairing is the best that modern Williams has had since Massa and Bottas.

Big W for Williams. Going from Latifi (a pay driver) and Russell (The merc protege that was always leaving / likely engine discount ) to a stable lineup of 2 drivers that have proven experience of their own.

sainz and albon are 30 and 28, respectively. i think williams having a more mature driver line up will suit the culture that vowles is trying to create at Grove

When Carlos was with Renault and McLaren, he never cared about being no. 1 or no. 2. Instead, he was focused on learning and working with engineers. His dedication to teamwork is evident, especially when the team is competing for points. He's not afraid to take the lead and implement a new strategy when he sees an opportunity to outperform other teams. Carlos and Lando's teamwork is a great example to follow.

These two imo make probably the strongest lineup outside the top 4 teams, Vowles cooked

Most likely Williams will handle Carlos and Alex the same way McLaren do with Lando and Oscar, that being with no clear number 1 driver

This is the perfect test for Albon to see how far he has come along. Is he really that great in that Williams car or was his teammates Latifi and Sargeant just shocking?!

Sainz: I was Max’s teammate, I learned much from him.
Albon: 1-1 buddy. It’s game on.

'if he can bring santander with him, wow that would a huge coup for Williams in the bank'
I'm here for the unintended banking puns

Now if Newey gets his ass over to Williams, we are in business

It’s a big test for Albon. He’s up against a driver that isn’t the best or the worst in the grid now and well better know where he stands among the rankings now. If he beats Sainz then he could get back into a top team (as a number 2 though)

Sainz actually has a lot of parallels to Alonso as a driver. Both favour under steer. Both a couple of tenths shy of the very quickest drivers but great at using their IQ to close the gap

Ive been huffing the same hopium that you are. Albon has been royally slept on. Having Sainz will be the perfect way to finally have a respectable benchmark. Have no doubt that these two will push each other. Williams is on the right trajectory, the next couple years will be exciting to watch.

Carlos has been at so many teams and has immediately been good. I don't know if people remember back in 2021 but most of the transferring drivers were struggling and Carlos was good from day one.

I love driver switch ups because it tells you where the drivers stack against each other.

Seeing Ham and Lec in the Ferraris, and then Albon and Sainz in the Williams will really teach us a lot about who really is in that top tier of the sport.

Surely williams must be cooking something up there

Newey…?

Sainz is completely going for the 'All teams signed me'-sidequest: Was at Toro Rosso (now VCARB), was at Renault (now Alpine), McLaren, Ferrari, now Wiliams (potentially Mercedes in the future). Only missing Sauber, Haas, RB and AM.

What an upgrade from Sargent. A bit underwhelmed but I guess this was Carlos best option. Solid driver lineup from Williams
