Title: Quantum Optics in the Era of Quantum Information
Abstract: With the recent progress of quantum computation and communication, most of the groups traditionally focused on quantum optics are moving more or more towards quantum information. This hints at a link between these two domains. The link will be explored in view of (a) the notion of nonclassicality in quantum optics and quantum information, (b) measures of nonclassicality in quantum information and quantum optics, and (c) quantum state engineering and KLM approach. It will be noted that to obtain quantum advantages appearing in quantum computing or communication, nonclassicality is needed. Subsequently, a set of physical systems (atomic, optical and optomechanical) and engineered quantum states that can produce nonclassicality required for various quantum computing and communication tasks will be discussed in detail.
