Never could dance like the Nicholas Brothers .. but it felt like it.

The Contours .. 'First I look at the purse' lyrics:

What does every man look at first?

Some fellas look at the eyes
Some fellas look at the nose
Some fellas look at the size
Some fellas look at the clothes

I don't care if her eyes are red
I don't care if her nose is long
I don't care if she's underfed
I don't care if her clothes are wrong
Why? 'cause first I look at the purse!

Some fellas look at the smile they wear
Some fellas look at the legs that's all
Some fellas look at the style of their hair
Some fellas want the waist to be small.

I don't care if the teeth are big
I don't care if the legs are thin
I don't care if her hair is a wig
Why waste time lookin' at the waistline?
Why? 'cause first I look at the purse!

A woman can be as fine as can be,
with kisses sweet as honey
But that don't mean a thing to me
If she ain't got no money
'cause if the purse is fat....that's where it's at.

Some fellas look at the way they walk
The way they swing and sway
Some fellas like the way they talk
and dig the things they say.

But I don't care if she wobbles like a duck
and talks with a lisp
I still think I'm in good luck
if the dollar bills are crisp
Why?..cause first I look at the purse!

First I look at the purse!
Tried to tell you.
yeah yeah yeah
kisses can be sweet as honey
But I want me some money
She can be covered with a rash
Long as she's got some cash.
I want a big fine car
I don't want one suit
Like a Hollywood star.

Brilliant track by the Contours, unbelievable dancing by the Nicholas Brothers! NOTHING compares these days!

The song was allegedly about Bobby Roger's then-wife, Wanda Rogers (who was a member of The Marvellettes) as Bobby co-wrote this with Smokey Robinson. It sort of resembles inner city ghetto talk (primarily in Detroit) that can also be mistaken for "playing the dozens" talk, or talking about someone's mama.

Great video and better quality than the first one but I don't like the 2 strips down each side. Like mobile phone footage!!
