Which is a better plane to fly on a 6 hrs to a 12 hrs flight? A 767 with a 2-3-2 configuration or a B737-9/A321 in a 3-3 configuration with almost the same number of passengers?

Boeing is a replicate of many other US manufacturing demise where the corporate captains focus on share price overrides customer's priorities and product concern.

Honestly just a re-engined, refreshed 767 would be the perfect aircraft. It would cost dramatically less than the a330, have a similar pax capacity, but fly for roughly 7000nm. Two variants based on the 767-300ER and 767-400ER with the wing and engines of the 787-8. Less weight, cheaper, good field performance

It helped that it had type commonality with the 757; Boeing hasn't fully learned that lesson like Airbus has with the A32X family.

Always laugh at a new Boeing as after years they still can't get two Max variants or the 777X in the air. Boeing may be decades before a new Boeing aircraft is actually sold and flying. Airbus has taken over as the world leader.

In hindsight, Boeing should have developed a single-aisle, twin-engine jet with an optimal capacity of 240 and a maximum range of 5000 nautical miles. This aircraft could have addressed the A320neo variants and served as a replacement for the 737, 767, and 757. If Boeing had gone through with the venture, it would have also made the 787 family and Embraer E2 more attractive.

When a a 757-x died, so did the 767-x. Im still a proponent for twin aisle for any aircraft over about 225 seats mixed class.

Boeing 767 X just need new engine and new Wing

I think they need to focus on 737s and 777X first before they start making new ones.

The Dreamliner (787-3) could fill this gap as well.

i don't think boeing will introduce 767X for passenger aircraft due already have 787, but maybe if they are chance for freighter if 767 program still running even post 2027 when 767F end production but sill producting KC-46 could be develop with new engines, wings and modern equipment to meet requirements, especially 767 didn't get meager upgrade or new generation since start production in 80s

What if the reason Boeing considered this idea is because that is what GE wanted: a twinjet application for the GENX-2B so that that engine, which had low sales due to the low sales of the 747-8 quadjet, could have a second chance?

I hope nobody is holding their breath until Boeing launches a new aircraft. I doubt anyone reading this is going to live long enough to see that happen. Boeing is done.

So the NMA is to replace the 757 or the 767 ?

They still made the 767-300f, all the tooling and supply lines are there…why wouldn’t they just re engine and re wing a passenger variant and then it could enter service in 2040 😂…typical Boeing lately.

The 1980's 767-X become the 777 :P
777 already looks like a larger 767
