"The Band - The Last Waltz", is an MGM-United Artists film, directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Robbie Robertson on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1976, which was released, along with a soundtrack album, in 1978. In the movie, when Rick started playing a recording of "Sip The Wine," Scorsese said, "I like that" and I said, "Me too." To all who watched that and said, "Hey! Play the rest of it": this is for you. I spent a few hours putting this together - I hope you like it. If this is your kind of music, watch the whole movie. I enjoyed all of it except the clown ridiculing The Lord's Prayer. Highlights for me were when Neil Diamond appeared on stage looking like he owned it; Rick, Emmylou Harris and Lavon Helm's "Evangeline" (although disappointed the sound man did not pickup Lavon's mandolin playing); and when Bob Dylan appeared as the last guest and sang two songs, it was easy to know that "the star" had arrived.

The most amazing concert of all time. Winterland is now apartments - end of an era for SF rock concerts.
