She was trying to understand all the customs and royal functions FOR she loves you. She changed herself to make YOU happy....and in the first moment that you doubt her, (when you catch her using magic to fit into your perfect little sugar-coated world) you rip her apart without even giving her the chance to explain. Without TRUSTING her. She ran back to the Isle because she felt like she wasn't worthy of your love. Maybe at that moment, when you learned she didn't truly feel comfortable in your world as the real Mal, you should have shown her your masterpiece and told her the truth....that you don't love the pretty pink princess she was trying to be for you. You love the strong, beautiful girl with purple hair and magic green eyes. That's the girl you fell in love with and wanted to make your Queen. And you almost lost her.
