If that was actually a serious issue then he is implying that the US post office was trying to apply some sort of pressure to the party, does it not? Perhaps he's just alluding to increase costs due to outsourcing, but then I would have expected him to say that given his apparent fondness of numbers. The principle of not wanting to be reliant on those institutions makes sense on it's own, but he is supposed to be talking about things that did lead to a decline and not things that just could have in the hypothetical future. So either he's just muddying the waters or something went on with the US mail that he is only willing to allude to.

And of course if we do still take this seriously then we need to think seriously about how we reach people over the internet without relying on YouTube or various bourgeois domain hosts.
