3DO USB Host Controller Installation and Setup

Fred recently purchased the USB Host Controller by Mnemo to replace his 3DO's CD-ROM drive with a USB reader to run games. This video demonstrates how to install, set up, and run games on an FZ-1 (tray loader). The FZ-1 is a solderless solution, for the FZ-10 you will need good soldering skills. Question about NVRAM. I understand how to create an NVRAM file for each game on the usb drive and save it in the NVRAM folder. I'm confused how it works, though. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe a step by step of how to save games to it and load from the NVRAM folder to the memory manager... if that's what it does.

im really stuck. ive got the chip installed. set up the flash drive. I can see all the files, but it doesn't matter if I try to launch the bios or an iso, I get the screen telling me to insert a disc... I have no idea what that means

Hi, what screwdrivers you used to remove the CD Trayholder's screws in this video? I tried Philips #0, 1, 2, 3. But none of them worked

It seems like having the save files sounds a little tricky. I just bought this and haven’t received it. It really should have a “how to do” page. So how many nvram files are there when you download the bios? I’m a little confused on what you do with that. You just copy it over to your pc, rename it and then add it back to the usb? I’m worried about saves for games and whatnot. Thank you by the way for this video. I would’ve been completely lost without it. I’m going to go step by step when I get this in the mail

Hello, I’m looking for some help... I just installed the mnemo fz-1 internal device. All went perfect... except for there now is no sound. But when I plug in headphones to the controller sounds works perfect through the headphones. Do you have any suggestions?

When I select Launch Bios or boot the console without no USB drive, I get a black screen. Games seems to work fine but I cannot access the 3DO memory manager. Does your console work okay with this option as I can find any info anywhere.

I'm looking to get a 128gb usb drive. But what is a compatible usb that works for the MNEMO Host controller? I plan on putting a ton of games on there.

I must''ve arranged it upside down! Luckily I unhooked everything and connected in the proper place. Now the lid fits like a glove. The only reason why I couldn't get it right the first time from watching your vid was the setting there is kind of dark. You did the best you could and put me on the path but goddammit trying to find out where to place the top of those screws was a challenge.

I'm still trying to hunt down a bios demo iso to view the old bios. Otherwise my 3DO is in a better place! Thanks

Hi, it's me again. My NXT flashdrive works like a charm on the MNEMO so far. I only powered it on once and it's functional. I have a new problem, trying to fit the top casing back on top of the console. The metal part (the thing that used to hold the CD assembly) is tilted upward at the front. I was only able to fit the back of it on, the holes in the back attached to the motherboard but now the front won't.

Those pegs, I put the taller pegs on the bottom side and the shorter ones up top. Might it have something to do with that or is it something else?

How do you access the bios main menu with this mod installed? I'm talking about the screen that says "insert CD" and "press button for memory manager". How do you get there?
