This video is intended to give you two sides of the argument on the women in Revelation 12. It is not meant to be biased on one side.​⁠

@danchapa argues that Revelation 12 is a future event, and that means the meaning behind the text is not interpretable until it really happens.

@shamounian argues from the text itself alludes to passages in the Old Testament, concluding that the woman can be described as a number of entities, including the Virgin Mary. Verses are only overlaid when Sam is speaking just because he alludes to those Old Testament passages, not to be biased on his side.

Revelation 12:1 refers to the Woman as the Ark of the Covenant. Mary is the New Ark of the Covenant. Read the previous chapter and it continues to the next chapter.

Yes I have heard "the woman" as possibly being the Church. The reasons why I think she is Mary is that Revelation speaks of 4 characters in Chapter 12...the dragon who is obviously the Devil...The Archangel Michael and her child who is obviously Jesus, so in my mind why would the Woman not also be a person?

Jesus never calls His mother "Mary" or even "Mother" in John's gospel but calls her "Woman"...at the wedding at Cana and at the cross.

I also think it makes sense that Mary would give birth to the Child Jesus, the Messiah and then Jesus would "give birth", so to speak, to His Church and if the Woman were the Church then it would mean the Church gave birth to the Messiah Jesus.

The great sign in the sky has both a primary (Mary seen by John to be in heaven) and a secondary (Church) symbolic meaning. Reminds me of Genesis 3:15 where we see "the Woman's seed (Jesus) will crush the serpent's (the Devil) head...the same two characters we find in Revelation 12.

But having said all that, I get it, because I also think The Woman symbolizes the Church...yet she is most definitely Mary in the literal sense, however I really think we can agree she is BOTH/AND with no problem, as long as one does not deny the Woman is also Mary.

The woman of revelation 12 is Israel/ Yashar’el(Zion). Even Paul verifies telling us that she is our mother… Galatians 4:26. Also takes 2 to 3 witnesses to establish a matter 😊… Isaiah 66:8-13 ; 2 Esdras 10:7 ; Psalm 87:5 even bears witness to Revelation 12 woman giving birth to the child…there are more as well in Baruch and Jeremiah 😊… hope this blesses everyone.

4:55 The male child is Jesus and by extension the church as the body of Christ. And there you have the rapture.

Rev 12 is about Mary, Christ and The Dragon, period! It's HIGHLY explicit, the only one that can have doubts about its true meaning is the one that CAN NOT discern.
The problem here as this Evangelical Pastor is that he thinks it's about his interpretation, but The Bible is to be DISCERNED.

The woman who flees into the wilderness is Israel.

In Revelation 12 she flees into the wilderness and in Revelation 17 John is taken into the wilderness and shown a woman sitting on a Red Beast

This is the same woman.
The beast eventually turns on her and burns her with fire and strips her naked.

The woman is the Mother of whose children who are still in bondage.
Those children in bondage are Harlots.
The woman is the Jerusalem below who is represented by Hagar
The woman above is the New Jerusalem who is the mother of us all


There are two great cities in Revelation. The one above and the one below who is spiritually called Sodom and Egypt where our Lord was crucified.

It's crazy how many view points Revelation has. The late great Michael Heiser believed that this had already come to pass in the heavenly's and that the signs were constellations at the time of Jesus' birth.

This chapter demonstrates that Satan is and will constantly attack those who follow the commandments and believe in the Gospel. I believe this chapter applies since the time of Genesis until this very day. It is a multilayered view that applies throughout history. Satan will continue to war with Gods children until Christ final battle with him. This chapter should be seen as the cosmic struggle between good and evil and the damage Satan wants to inflict on the Church. We also see in this Chapter God intervening and protect his children. This shows us that the circumstances today when Satan attacks us God will protect and intervene on behalf of his Church.

Dear Sam, Isn't the Church while on earth seated with Christ in heavenly places. According to Paul the Church is on earth physically and in heaven spiritually at the same time. So the woman can be interpreted as the church seen in heaven while still on the earth. The Manchild is described as, who shall rule all nations with a rod of iron and is caught up to God and to his throne. Rev 2:26 And he that overcomes and keeps my works unto the end to him will i give power over the nations and he (the overcomer) shall rule them with a rod of iron. Rev 3:21To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne even as I also overcome and am set down with my Father in his throne. Scripture is interpreted by scripture so the Manchild is the overcomers and not Jesus. The woman (the church) is both physical and spiritual so the manchild (the overcomer) can also be physical and spiritual. The woman giving birth here does not necessarily mean a physical birth but a separation of the overcomers from the church into a greater authority and dimensions in the plan of God much like the ten virgins are separated when the bridegroom comes. The manchild (the overcomer) being caught up to the throne does not necessarily mean that they have left the earth but have enter into a greater level of spiritual authority while still on earth. The woman flees into the wilderness ( not literal ) where ( they )feed her for 3 &1/2 years the ( they ) in the context is the manchild. When the devil is cast down it says that he no longer has a ( place) in heaven this is because his place of authority is lost to the manchild this is why he is cast down. This is why he tries to destroy the child as soon as he is born because he knows that the manchild is going to replace him in that heavenly realm. When the devil is cast down to the earth it says, Rev 12:11, and ( they overcome) him by the blood of the lamb and the word of there testimony and loved not there lives unto the death. These overcomers are the manchild. So the woman is protected and fed during this time however the rest of her offspring who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus can only be Christians which means they are also a part of the church (the woman). Sam please show me in the scriptures were Mary has offspring that are persecuted by the devil for 3 and 1/2 years. We see 3 groups in Rev ch 12 a manchild a women and a remnant of her seed Jesus said their would be believers bearing fruit 30, 60, & 100 fold In Rev ch 11 we see John given a read to measure the temple and is told to measure the holy of holies, the holy place and to leave out the outer court for it will be trodden under foot by the gentiles for 3 &1/2 years. The manchild is in the holy of holies, the woman is in the holy place but the remnant are in the outer court and will be persecuted. Their are 3 in the parable of the pounds. we see Peter, James and John at the mount of transfiguration who were of the 12 apostles who were of the 70 disciples we see 3 groups in Gideons army. Woman is Mary, there is no denial. Jesus is her only physical child, while all whole Church is her spiritual children that she received from Christ (reflection of which we see in conversation in moment of crucifixion:

"When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home." John 19, 26-27

So, there is no pick and chose from Sam's side when it is conversation about who is child and who are children of Mary. Jesus is her only child by birth, and we are her spiritual children as part of Church. Protestants are simply wrong in this question too.
