Just right with the kick-off of this year´s summer season, Milk & Sugar start promoting their new single „Canto Del Pilón" -- a world music influenced summer track that stands out for his own.

This new single is a cooperation with venezuelan singer María Marquéz, who is a great star in Spanish Speaking Middle- and South America since the late 60ies. „Canto Del Pilón" is a black workers song about the colonial history of South America.

Remixes are coming from Berlin mastermind Taan Newjam, Italy's very own Simone Vitullo, Déepalma honcho Yves Murasca and chillout legend Afterlife.

ESTO ES FOLKLOR DE VENEZUELA!!!    Estos Cantos de Pilón  pertenecen a la cultura popular de Venezuela, y forman parte de la recopilación de versos de los cantos de faena o de  trabajo que desde antaño  ha utilizado nuestra gente para, a través de la música,   aliviar lo laborioso y extenuante  de un trabajo como   ordeñar un animal para obtener  leche, o pilar el maíz para preparar nuestras arepas, o  lavar la ropa en los ríos, etc., etc.      Dichos cantos de trabajo han quedado para la posteridad y ahora vemos con mucha satisfacción que esta rama  de nuestra original cultura popular, se ha internacionalizado también,  como lo apreciamos en este video con una de nuestras más conocidas piezas CANTOS DE PILON  , y ya está tomando auge en el mundo como una expresión más de nuestra cultura, y por supuesto, adaptándose a  las modificaciones y estilos que se le atribuyen y  que este tipo de fenómeno lleva intrínseco, como  es el caso por ejemplo,  de nuestras  melodías Caballo Viejo o Moliendo Café.   En Venezuela tenemos dos excelentes grabaciones  pioneras  de esta pieza musical como son la del Quinteto Contrapunto y la de Soledad Bravo, grabadas, si no me falla la memoria,  entre los años 60’s y 70’s.
