Показать описание
This cultural community art center is a developmental tourism and educational initiative aimed at strengthening and integrating the local communities through socially inclusive spaces to hold events, meet people, share and celebrate cultural differences. This architectural design proposal is to emphasise, document, educate, celebrate and share each unique communal culture. This also aims to reflect the historical and cultural significance of the community, not forgetting the past but utilizing the past as a scope and guide for adding value to the future.
Design Concept:
The DNA depicts the true originality of the sociocultural values and traditions of a community.
The DNA shapes show the tight-knit society of families, friends, uncles, aunties, brothers, sisters and neighbours. They are all accustomed to a certain way of life. They may or may not share the exact cultural background but they have grown to appreciate and live with others to become a blended community that shares the same value and cultural significance. The knitted shape of the DNA emphasizes the importance of communal unity among the different cultural dwellers.
The Design:
To prevent salinity, erosion and other coastline effects, the FORM ACTIVE structural system was employed. Form Active structures transfer the loads through the form or shape. Three categories of Form Active systems were utilized namely; Cable system, Arch and Tent system
The DNA shape represents the meticulous and structural fusion of arches, tent systems and cable systems. These forms provide design possibilities like wide-span self-supporting spaces and quality natural lighting. The building will be self-sufficient as it consumes minimal energy and it provides electricity through the photovoltaic cells on the tent roofing system.
