I love Gnome, especially on my Laptops. I am running KDE at the moment because I have the hardware to make it gorgeous while performing really well but you cannot beat gnomes workflow. You can throw the screen around and jump in and out of virtual desktops using 3 fingers on the trackpad. It really does have the best workflow I have ever seen.

Gnome is amazing to use with a touchscreen. Sure Linux doesn’t have good touchscreen support but it really doesn’t matter with gnome.

I love gnome 2 very much, and hate gnome 3 very much. But now since gnome 40 series then i start to use gnome again. Very interesting video. Thanks, bro...😊👍🙏

Video should be titled "A history of GNOME's UX", because there is so much going on behind the scenes in terms of architecture between versions. No mention of CORBA, dBus, Bonobo and so on. That's why users don't understand why all these versions and "reinventing the wheel": they only judge by the UX.

really great video, but I have one suggestion. please, don't zoom into pictures that much because when you talk about something like the top bar after it disappears from the screen it's just harder to understand what you are talking about. if you want to make your video more dynamic you can add a background and zoom out instead

Gnome 4X is great, but nothing will look as beautiful to me as Ubuntu 10.10’s Gnome 2 with the dark version of the Humanity theme

I started using Linux, in the form of Slackware, in 1997. My first Windows Manager was TWM. I believe I graduated to XFCE thereafter, but I may be mistaken. I had a keen interest in the development of Enlightenment and still fire it up for nostalgic reasons to this day. For that matter I still use eTerm. I remember when KDE was a baby as I used it extensively too. Right now, I am back to XFCE, albeit in a heavily modified form. I did use Gnome for awhile, but was no fan of the 3.0 update. I use it when I have to. I do still like it in the form of MATE. Past that, I really like the tiling window manager Awesome.

I miss the vertical desktops....they were better than the current horizontal ones imo ... especially when using two display, the vertical strip of previews were placed side by side in the edges of the displays to easily move windows around with little mouse movement.
Now they are at the top center of each display ;_;
