I have to opposite kind of anxiety. Small things wreck my stomach, give me muscle tension and headaches, with a pinch of dissociation now and then. But when a wildfire passed about a block away I went into a zen state and locked in until the danger was over at around 3 am. Then I crashed.

Gonna be real, the "there is no catastophe" mentality has gotten a lot of people to just roll over an accept it when a catastrophe does happen because they weren't prepared for the possibility

Except when it doesn’t and every action you take is meaningless without any impact. Worse is the good that you create benefits those of less noble disposition and you end up being the unknowing cause of so much suffering and misery.

i thought this was gonna be a reading of that one tumblr post where OP's parents put out their clothes out pretending that they got rapture as a ""joke"" but since the op didn't read the rapture books(like "Left behind") the op didn't understand the ""Joke"" and watched cartoons.

Im not anxious that the world goes up in flames. Actually, i would probably be chill if everything collapsed. Im anxious that my own life goes up in flames while everyone else is fine.

There is no individual solution to systemic problems. No matter how hard we work, we are completely powerless until the system turns itself over to us... which will never happen. The fact that it has been a slow, carefully planned bureaucratic descent into this horror is the worst part of it. A sudden firey apocalypse would be the swift and humane end to us all.
