Hey ! Very helpful illustration and thorough explanations ! Cool man and apriciated, , , because i have same mechanism on my Homelite Zip...and trouble on the starter re assembley. you know...never done it before and allot of spacers and the like and spring and the shabang and of course a while since disassamble and no remember details. Thab u clip puts it everything in order. Great ! 🙂

On my saw the cup that the shoes dig into the broke away from the rest of the assembly. I am considering Aluma-weld??? (the sticks) Wish me luck. Thanks for all you do.

David Bradley has that FM starter and old Poulan sandcasts too. Wright saws also and who knows what else!

I had this problem with mine I just used spray paint in the cup to build up the area again and it worked great

My C-51 has the overrunning bearing style starter and when I took a look at it it was shiny and dry. The starter works great as is but I was wondering if those needles should have any kind of lubricant.

Similar Starters on old Stihl 050/051 and 041, maybe these parts could be made to work also.

Poor design but for the day it was good. I just bought an old pioneer AR with this same problem and it’s a pain in the ass!
