Make a Paperclip Float | Floating Paperclip and Surface Tension | Paperclip on Water Experiment |

How to make a paperclip float? How does it work?

A paper clip will normally SINK in water because it has a greater density than water and weighs more than the water it can displace.
Water is made up of molecules. Each molecule is attracted to one another – that is cohesion. The attraction of molecules towards one another at the surface of the water creates a sort of ‘skin’ that allows the paper clip to float. This is called SURFACE TENSION.
Water molecules hold tight with one another in order to hold something up.
High surface tension of the water helps the paper clip - with much higher density - float on the water.
This experiment proves that a paperclip can FLOAT too!

Thank you, mine was keeping on sinking until I saw your video and knew the right way to put it on water .

I seen a watercolor artist use a paperclip he bent to to go down in the water causing the water to come up the side of the cup he bent the paper clip to hang from the side of the cup with enough going in the water to give a continuous flow of water to come up all threw the paper clip he bent to position that way. Can you make a video how to bend the paperclip on the side of a cup or glass so water flows up constantly?
