Dexys On Oxford Road Show: 'Kevin Rowland's 13th Crime'
Показать описание
Kevin Rowland has a track record of changing song titles - and this song has had several. Originally known as "Kevin Rowland's 13th Crime" (but often abbreviated as "13th Crime") when it was first released on "The Bridge" video it was entitled "Kevin Rowland's Band".
It was later redeveloped - but not released - as part of the "Don't Stand Me Down" sessions and this version was eventually issued (also under the name of "Kevin Rowland's Band") as a B-Side to the Kevin Rowland single "Tonight" in 1988.
Eventually in 2002 the "Don't Stand Me Down" era version was reinstated as the opening track on "The Director's Cut" re-release of that album and given the new title of "Kevin Rowland's 13th Time" - although Kevin Rowland's sleeve notes, giving a blow by blow account of his 13th arrest for criminal activities, helped to explain the song's original title!
However the story didn't end there as the "first I made a start" break-down segment of the song's original version was finally adapted for use in "I'm Always Going To Love You" on the 2012 Dexys album "One Day I'm Going To Soar".
This early version which was broadcast on BBC's "Oxford Road Show" on 3rd December 1982 is perhaps the most obvious example of the influence that The Blue Ox Babes' early demos had on the Dexys sound of this period - a similarity underpinned by the fact that both of course featured virtuoso violin solos from Helen O'Hara.
