Today I'm reacting to HBO's new movie "Transhood" which feature several trans kids as young as age 4. Parts of the movie were GREAT, but others? Truly concerning.

I was a tomboy growing up and did not become “girly” until college. My cousin used to paint his nails and play with my dolls when we were young... he is a straight male. Just because you like things that are not “traditional” when you are young does NOT mean you are gay or trans. I’m so sick of people putting a label on everything.... especially putting labels on young children who don’t see color or sexuality. It is extremely harmful... we all have both feminine and masculine traits within us. Some of these parents pushing these major identities on these children can do a lifetime of harm instead of love.

It's so backwards that people assume boys must be trans if they like playing with 'girl' toys or wearing dresses. It's so reductive and upsetting, being a girl is more than wearing dresses and playing with dolls.

When my uncle was a toddler, he liked to play with the baby dolls of my mom and aunts, even takign them to his room to play ot tuck them in bed, my grandma took him to the psycologist to know if he was gay, and you know what he said? "That is not a decisive thing, it can be his imagination or he playing the role as a father, this means he has strong paternal emotions, just give it time, and check how he plays with the dolls." and guess what? He was NOT Gay or Trans, but he grew up to be, indeed a very protective and kind dad, that is willign to do anything for his son.

I'm a girl and i have a twin brother. When we were kids we played with barbie dolls, cars and lego. No one ever thought it was weird or that we might be trans or gay. Why not just kids be kids.

The way Avery is shredding that paper into a pile while they talk about their feelings is so sad to me. Poor kid just seems so anxious

why is she taking her 4 year old child to say their pronouns in front of a large group of people? that would be terrifying for any child.

Do these woke parents realize that while preaching “remove gender stereotypes” they are literally stereotyping their children by assigning them a gender based on the toys they prefer to play with?

as a child i remember thinking multiple times "i wish i was a girl" now as a 33 year old man im glad nothing was ever done about that

“Famous trans children” shouldn’t be a term in our society. Let the kids be KIDS!!

It’s so weird how the narrative has changed from “kids should be able to play with whatever toy they want!” to “if a biological boy is playing with barbies they’re trans”

Boys playing with girl toys and vise versa shouldn’t even be considered a “sign”. To children TOYS ARE TOYS!

That kid tearing the paper in the first part of this shows huge signs of anxiety and panic. I used to do that and still find myself wanting to when in extremely anxious circumstances or having a panic attack. I have diagnosed panic disorder, and that child is showing signs of being incredibly anxious and overwhelmed with their mother acting like that and gaslighting them

These people be like "fuck gender stereotypes, wearing pink doesn't make you a girl" but then also say "this boy played with girl's toys when he was young therefore he must be a girl"??? WHERE IS THE LOGIC! I CAN'T FIND IT!

The mother’s whole identity is built on their child being trans.

Wow. Avery literally said in words, exactly how they felt. And the mom was obviously annoyed “but you saidddd...” Avery doubled down and went unheard. Disgusting.

The way that mother flew up to the stage while dragging him along really showed where her focus was.

When a *small* child says they're trans, they don't understand what they're saying. It's so disturbing to see parents taking that and running with it for clout.

What's weird to me is that the tomboys I knew growing up are straight women, the parents didn't force any identity politics onto them. What a difference 30 years makes.
