Lamb Chorba Is A Spicy Lamb Chickpea Barley Soup Recipe, that is so warming and comforting! The combination of spices in the Ras el Hanout is an amazing compliment to the taste of lamb.
Ingredients:
30 mL (2 Tbsp) olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 carrot, chopped
1 celery stalk, chopped
250g (½ lb) lamb, diced
1.5L (6 cups) chicken broth
1 can (796 mL / 28 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (540 mL / 19 oz) chickpeas, rinsed and drained
90g (125 mL / ½ cup) barley
Salt to taste.

Method:
Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
Add the vegetables and cook until softened.
Add the lamb and Ras el Hanout.
Continue cooking for 2-3 minutes.
Add the tomatoes and broth.
Bring to a boil, cover loosely then lower to a simmer for at least 30 minutes. (longer is better)
Add the chickpeas and barley.
Cooking for another 20-30 minutes.

I have a hard time watching your old videos without the "hello friends" or "welcome friends" intro. Keep up the good work!

I love being introduced to new recipes I wouldn’t have ever found, in such a clean way too.

Made this today with beef instead of lamb. Didn't have all the spices so I did as you suggested and made it my own. No white pepper, fennel seed instead of anise, no ginger, extra cumin. Turned out very good. This was a new taste experience for me and the wife. Really enjoyed it.

Ahh, real Canadian superstores no name chickpeas! Brings back memories of my seventeen years living in BC. I’m British and moved over there in 1999, been living in Vienna since 2016, you just brought back a flood of memories! :)

A great dish, we make it with aleppo 7 spice blend instead of ras alhanoot, to the side of fareeka, which is smoked and dry green wheat.

Thanks for the recipe! I like the content and the style of your channel. I made this recipe about a week ago, had no lamb at home so I used chicken thighs instead, and red lentils instead of barley. Lamb would probably be a better choice, but it still was amazing. I think it would even work as a vegeterian dish.
