Hullo Robin, I am excited for you and your upcoming show! I congratulate you and I believe that you will have success. I am not sure how you measure success, having a show looks to me as a success so I wish you all versions of success that you desire! I am going to offer unsolicited advice: I don’t believe longer Artist statements are read completely, short and sweet is best. Give your attendees a glimpse into the direction of your show and you, not a dissertation on the presented art. I have been a part of several shows, only 2 solo shows creating artworks for those nearly drove me over the edge! I recall the second show I participated in was a true revelation for me and others. The most popular piece was a 12 inch by 12 inch painting. We all had 8x8 foot sections of wall to display our paintings. Some used every inch! This lady centered her jewel of art in the center and people were drawn into viewing the small abstract painting. It seemed surrounded by huge pieces to either side but people found it lovely and quite desirable, it was the first piece sold and not the cheapest offered! If you have a precious piece be sure to give it the space it needs to shine. My last observation is that there is nothing wrong with movie poster art, I have several in my collection and I often have one displayed in my home for anyone to enjoy. One piece is the artwork that the movie poster is based upon/ made from and I take an especial pride in ownership of it! I am not traveling with the state of things but I am wishing you only the very best, knowing that you are truly inspirational, an amazing artist and a delightful person. Stay safe and be well!
