One of the most famous constellations of the night sky, Orion, is easiest to spot during the winter months. You may even be able to see the glow of the Great Orion Nebula (M42) with a small telescope or binoculars.

Skywatch Wednesday is a production of the Adler Planetarium—the first planetarium in the Western Hemisphere! Located on Chicago’s lakeshore, the museum typically hosts more than half a million visitors each year and reaches millions more through youth STEAM programs, neighborhood skywatching events, people-powered research, and other outreach efforts. Today, the Adler is bringing our unique approach—scientific exploration rooted in community and connection—to guests from around the world who can enjoy the digital Adler from their own homes, libraries, schools or offices.

Orion is the one constellation I learned about in my college astronomy class that I still recognize in the night sky, and I took that class in 1973! 🤩🥰

ALL THESE YEARS I've been thinking I was looking at the big dipper (or little?) But it was Orion.

Is it Orion whose stars are the only ones who are all actually near one another to form the constellation. But the stars which firm the other
constellations are actually not even in the same area. They are miles & miles apart.

I call it "The Pot"..cause it looks like one lol.. The sword is the handle of the pot lol... Im from Down Under, NZ. Very cool subject to look at.. Summer (Right now for us) we see it the best down here.
If you have a 70mm Telescope with a Celestron 4mm 62 degrees lens you will see it clearly.. Like Nick says it is an awesome thing to look at..
