FYI The bottom doesn't turn independently. One just holds the snake lightly at the small end and rotates it from the back. Sort of like how you would turn a screwdriver.

About to buy one. I have a 1/4" which was great for the kitchen sink. But for the bathroom sink it only barely doesn't fit through the strainer. 1/8 should do the trick
