It's like when a Spitfire or Lancaster is flying nearby, you just know what is coming and receive an injection of affection.

I used to live near Beaconsfield train station, and one of these would come past every night at around 10pm pulling rubbish wagons out of London. Even though we were set about 100m back from the track, i could feel the rumble as it went past. Love these trains!

The soundtrack of my commute to London all those years ago. You always knew when your train was going to arrive, you could hear the 37s halfway down the track.

The 37 was my favourite locomotive when I was a second man at eastfield traction depot springburn Glasgow 1974 onwards

My grandfather was a fireman on the LMS, and he was friendly with a former driver who had just retired when I became interested in trains around 1987.

This man may have worked on both steam and diesel, but he really liked the 37s he operated the West Highland Line on.

I fell in love with that sound way back in 1978. In 1998 I actually learnt them as a driver. I still love that sound now. Shame I haven't been able to drive one for over 20 years.

Happy memories of the 37s brand new with them working the York/Bournemouth on the Great Central in the early 1960's along with new 47s. The change over period from steam to diesel being a sad but interesting time.

It would be one hell of an experience to be in the Totley Tunnel near Sheffield with one of these beasts approaching.

Nice to see the difference @ 10:00 too. No noise, smoke, fumes, ect. You certainly know it when an older diesel comes through. ✔😉👍💯🇬🇧

I haven’t seen a 37 in years. I used to walk across the fields from my Nanas smallholding to a bridge over the railway to Grain, and the gravel and oil trains headed by 37s would make the bridge shake. Awesome
