• Why is the baby lion upset?

• Who painted the baby tiger’s stripes?

• Why did the camel not want to drink lemonade?

These are just some of things we’ll read about in “Animal Rhymes” which is based on a book published in 1913 by Edith Brown Kirkwood and M.T. Ross.

The original book was called "Animal Children”.

I usually try to keep my version of public domain books as close to original as possible but “Animal Children” was a challenge that way. I didn’t care for many of its rhymes and I ended up changing them (and adjusting some of the illustrations also.)

I hope you enjoy this reading and I'm looking forward to your suggestions and comments on how to make this channel better. 😊

P.S. “Animal Children” is actually part of a six-book series published at the beginning of the 1900s. Five out of the six books were written by Elizabeth Gordon. The sixth book, “Animal Children”, was written by Edith Brown Kirkwood. There is a big difference between the quality of the rhymes in the five books versus the sixth. “Animal Children”’s style is less fluid and also less kind.

P.S. Since I write in several different genres (eg. fiction, non-fiction, children, adults), I decided to use different pen names for each genre. I think it makes things less confusing for readers.
My name is Bianca Aguglia and the pen name I’m using for children’s books is Bianca Doi. The only other non-children book I’ve published so far was published under the pen name Bianca Hudea. That’s the name I’m using for my Vintage Comics and Humor series. 😊
