This was one of my late husband's favourite songs. He passed away in 2021. We moved from Cape Town up to West Coast to Langebaan in1996 and stayed there for nearly 20 years before coming back to Cape Town. We always used to sing this car driving up to Langebaan from Cape Town (only about 1 1/2 hour drive. Wonderful memories.

With this Song I still see the Fleet of the Knights Templar heading West from the Harbour of La Rochelle in 1307 to avoid capture by the forces of greedy french King Philipp le Bel. On 18 ships more then 1200 people, men and women - yes, there were female Templars too, like Sister Ubaldina - disappeared in history. They just followed the path of their Ancestors, because the founding fathers of the Knights Templar were Norsemen. They knew, that beyond the Atlantic Ocean was another unknown land. too funny this shows up instead of movie i was watching..hysterical lyrics..all things considered...if these lyrics were only true! Funny stuff..got me almost smiling though..which is miracle even if it is satyre& spying so hard on me it is reading my darkest moods..when my plan does not flake out& start roaming for no apparent reason..sucking the life outta me as the bleak weather actually fits my mood more& more...adored the pet shop boys for their silliness back in the day..cat got albaquore( in their honor?) maybe just to get him calm& hear some purring...what a silly little singalong thanx pligrim i was taking it all way too seriously..this ditty so silly(&cats under bed asleep!)
