TLDR; Tamron 35-150 is great, but he wants to sell it and use prime lenses for weddings instead.

I've noticed that the size of your camera lens really affects how people react to you when you're taking photos. As someone who's into photography as a hobby, I've got a few lenses, including a 35-150mm one. But when I take it out on the streets, people definitely seem to notice me more quickly and get a bit weirded out. Sometimes they try to keep their distance or stare straight down the lens, even if they're not the main subject of the photo. A few people have even come up to me and asked what I'm doing and expressed how uncomfortable they feel. I still love using this lens, but I can see how it might not be the best for street photography. A smaller lens would probably be more subtle and less invasive.

So did you end up regretting it? lol. I use to shoot weddings a lot but have since slowed down to second shooting when my friend shoots. I find I just got too stressed from being the main shooter and second shooting is for me. With that said, I was a prime guy shooting my weddings with 35/1.4 and 85/1.4... I ended up selling those lenses for this Tamron and couldn't be more happy to sit back and shoot away as a second shooter with this lens. My second camera has the 24mm GM or 16-35 when I really need to go wide but I've been finding this lens alone can get everything I need.

I get it to be honest, I have all kinds of massive gear for pro video shoots, but it's really no fun. It suits work, but if you want to enjoy things and feel involved it's just not the way to go!

Our wedding photographer used the 24- 70mm f/2.8 L. She didnt need a bag of lenses to capture incredible images.

If you like to shoot with tiny primes then why did you get the Tamron in the first place?

Hey, noticed this video is about 4 months old now. How has your experience been since letting go of the lens? Have you missed the experience of using it? I'm currently running a 16mm f1.8, 35mm f1.4, and a 24-70 2.8. Thinking about picking this up instead of a 70-200 since I normally like to shoot standard wides.

I would prefer a 24 - 105 2.0-28 then you wouldn't have to worry about a wide angle.

This video would have sold me on the Tamron 35-150 lol... But yes, I will be keeping mine, along with my Sony 20mm 1.8 for wide, my 200-600 5.6 for zoom, and my Sirui 35mm for anamorphic shooting.

I've been shooting the last 3 years with a 35 mm and now I'm divided between getting an 85mm or a zoom lens. This video was helpful, gotta find my style.

In my experience people who are gun shy in front of a camera are no worse with the lens on or even off. They just don't like camera's and getting their photo taken.

I have the older version for Nikon F Mount and I also just bought a Z9. Having the older version which is an f stop slower on each end is fine by me. For me, paying $2K to get the same focal lengths for JUST my single Z mount body seems like an unjustifiable amount to spend. I'd be curious to get your thoughts. Thank you.

If it will be 35mm - 135mm f2-f2.8 or 35mm - 105mm f2 and it is smaller and less weight, it will be great. For me, the tele side of 105 or 135mm are more than enough.

I hate changing lenses, especially outside. I didn't care with DSLRs and I had almos no dust issues through the years with my Canon DSLRs. With mirrorless eh.

I’m an artist too, so I appreciate the artistic angle and “pushing your creative side” but as a professional content creator that charges thousands for my work, the business side takes precedence over my artistry. Speaking strictly from a business standpoint, based upon the fact that my clients are paying me thousands for a job, I need to worry about giving them the value they are paying for rather than trying to push my artistic vision. Imagine if you paid me $6K to record a lifetime moment involving a wedding (wife or child), etc and I told you the following: “I’m sorry I didn’t capture that once in a lifetime moment that cannot be recreated……”Sorry, I was changing lenses to my 85mm F1.4 because the bokeh is so buttery. My plan was to capture my artistic vision”. Not only would I get cursed out (and rightfully so) my company would get sued for not providing service that was not “up to industry standards”. The client shouldn’t win a case in court (if you have the correct contract) that states ‘“industry standards” and you perform up to “industry standards”.

I’m sorry that I have to disagree with you, but as a full time professional content creator, all of my artistic decisions are based on business being the priority., art is secondary. Art is subjective. What I see as beautiful you may see as trash. I need to make sure that as a pro I fulfill the terms of my contract to the point where the third party (the judge/arbiter can see I fulfilled the job to a reasonable standard. After I’ve met standards, then I can seek to “push my artistic standards”. My primary goals are in the following order: 1. Be profitable in business 2. Get more work because of my clients positive experiences with me 3. NOT get sued by my client because my artistic vision was in conflict with the expectations laid out in our agreed upon contract.
