Multicam Sync with PluralEyes - Troubleshooting tips when no Audio

I was having problems with certain video files from my Canon 70D not showing audio when using PluralEyes to do a multicam sync. It was inconsistent, some videos were fine and other shot at the same session were not showing up. I found a workaround which took me hours. I hope this saves you some time.
