It might be your safelights. Learn how to test them for best printing results. Used equipment is great but safelights are one darkroom item you may want to replace. Test the limits of your paper in your darkroom... #whatthefogiswrongwithmyprint

Picked up this video coz it seemed to be one of the recent ones. Just a little note. I started with photography when I was 10 and now, 35 years on (as a hobby bc my mum wouldn't allow me to do it for living, so I had to study something else), I watch your videos just to enjoy the passion you give it to it. I wish I had the opportunity to meet someone like you who would give me even more passion about this fantastic craft than I have always had. In any event, I admire the way how you manage to present it mister. I still make silver prints and its one of the most rewarding things I am lucky enough to enjoy.

I use an LED that has a wavelength of about 650 nm, so deep red. I pointed the light at the ceiling, and then I did a slightly more sophisticated safelight test by Kodak (Publication K-4) that involves ore-flashing the paper. No fogging, no density differences, nothing. So you don’t even need a super expensive safelight, I got mine from like, Ace Hardware or something.

To long Maestro. Where have you been? Welcome back. You are among the top banana photography youtubers. I learned a lot always on your Channel. Thank you very much from Spain.

Woohoo! You're back!

I struggle with finding darkroom safelights. The only ones I can find are Paterson (red), Kaiser (which I use) is deep orange and Ilford offers filters designed specifically for their papers (which papers I use) but no lights to go with them... :(

That has really cleared up any foggy issues. Also I liked your extra advise on paper and film storage THANKS. Also may i ask, storing 35mm film in the freezer? Would moisture effect the film when it is brought back to room temperature, and is there a safe way to do this Please? And thanks again for providing such great tutorials.

... as far as I know and out of experience the different papers actually react to different safe-light colours.I started my experiences with orange light and was so disappointed with the foggy outcomes. Well, I used the darkroom of a close friend but different paper than he/we used usually. Now, after that, I stay with red light, which goes with most papers, as fa as I know. All the best and always "good light" or "darkest Dark"?

do you know how to get this in a creative way in colour darkroom printing to make the print warmer?
