Mayor Suarez was first elected with a mandate of 86 percent and then re- elected with a mandate of nearly 79 percent. Under his leadership, Miami has cut crime and cut taxes to one of their lowest points in over fifty years, spurring a broad-based economic expansion across Miami. His father, Xavier Suarez, was Miami’s first-ever Cuban-American mayor.

A Time for Choosing Speaker Series is a forum from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute for leading voices in the conservative movement to address critical questions facing the future of the Republican Party. Through formal speeches delivered at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California, speakers will be invited to specifically address fundamental questions, such as “Why are you a Republican?,” “What should the Republican Party stand for?,” and “What are the Republican philosophies we can all agree on?”

Very nice, and I love the Reagan Foundation. But, this man voted for *Andrew Gillum* (that'd be like, in Reagan-era terms, Richard Nixon voting for *Pat Brown* in 1966, though Governor Pat Brown had far more accomplishments, obviously) in 2018 over Ron DeSantis. As well, he is totally committed to the quite UN-American World Economic Forum. There's no way the Gipper would have appreciated that were he alive today. Might be a nice person and maybe even a good mayor but someone who's in the Reagan mindset he is *not.*

Not sure what ranking system for happiness Suarez is referring to. In my internet search for city happiness rankings, Miami was not number one or even high on the list of happiest cities. Does anyone know what he is referring to?
