A neighbor saw me washing my car by hand in the back alley. He said “nobody does that anymore”. Automatic car washes have taken over. 24 dollars a month for unlimited washes. People today are too lazy.

Half an hour? Maybe in a hurry. I would say 1 hour. Refreshing wash is quick and simple but drying especially with some drying aid, QD or sth takes most time.

Takes longer than a half hour but it’s worth it to not have a car wash do any potential damage but drying a sedan thoroughly (is practically impossible what with drips etc coming from windows license plates all the little places u don’t catch right away). That imho is the time-consumer.

The very first deep clean and protect wash takes that long. If you keep up on it and/or use rinseless washing, it goes MUCH quicker in the future.

I do several cars a day to prep for preowned reconditioning. No hose. Gallon sprayer of DIY rinseless, bucket of DIY rinseless on wheels, legacy sponge, DIY drying towel. 4-10 minutes to wash painted surfaces depending on how dirty it is. 7 cars within half an hour in normal. Its a workout. Washing a car is $2.50 a minute that I'm not doing what I get paid for. That inspired me to figure it out. I wash my cars at home the same way year round. Ceramic gloss or ceramic coat and do it weekly to speed it up.

Takes me a solid 90 min every week. I also spend more time than most using the power washer to remove as much dirt as possible and remove all the soap. Then 15-20 min drying the wheels off with the blower and blowing areas that hold alot of water thats hard to reach. Im still confused how to scrub down the vehicle before the water dries. By the time i foam cannon the vehicle half the soap is already drying.

The naysayers in comments are so salty about the half hour 😂. But it’s the truth, and these guys actually practice and teach what they are preaching. It’s worth it to organize yourself, your process, and your tools and you’ll be surprised how efficient you can become… at anything.

My Girlfriends HRV took me 30-45 minutes this weekend to wash and seal with Incredible Subs, took me and hour and a half to do my truck. size makes a difference lol. the setup and clean up when its not a production setup is annoying too

Spend that time to make it right the first time. Once its as good as it can be in YOUR eyes then the next washes are just regeneration of the original wash and waxing. Personally i love a big production wash. If you dont have time then quick washes are enough, i dont mind a long process. A good base is key though. If its only 50% to start it will always look rough.

In most countries in Europe you are not allowed to wash your car in the back alley or even at your property.

Yvan. Can I use C6 mist for the drying aid after my car wash this weekend where in about 2 weeks from now I will Ceramic Coat the car? Not sure I will do a traditional polish work first if the car looks fine when I do the coating, just decontaminate steps. (Not C6 Hydro Lite coating) So does the Mist have anything that would linger around for when I do the coating?
