All of todays kids are so lucky to have this. Back in my time we needed to listen carefully and hope we got it right. If you were very lucky, you might have found some sheet music.

Thank Andrew, that means a lot. I have definitely been focusing on slower-tempo control as it has been one of my biggest weaknesses. I still a lot of room for improvement (you don't see all my throw-away takes in the video haha). It is a fun challenge to give every note it's full time value when there is so much space separating each note.

If you were to dissect the SCV 2014 snare break I would be very happy

As a brass player, I find it incredible that people can play this well and march at the same time. I'd never be able to do it.

I will look into it. Thanks for the suggestion!

let me rephrase: the fact that people can just play it at all is incredible. To play it this well while marching is just unbelievable.

There are a couple other licks on the 'to-do' list already, but I'll take a look at it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Are there ever going to be more videos? I really enjoy these solo dissections :\

Yeah, it's probably just me. But props to Atomikfzr for transcribing it! Thanks for the video, too!

Thanks for the comment Jason! There is one part that has been bugging me. In the eggbeater measure should it be played as a fivelet followed by a triplet diddle, or slurred together into a sevenlet over 1.333 beats? I have just been making it a sevenlet.

This is an amazing idea for a video series and I think you guys should stick with it

I am a brass player that dabbles in the percussion every now and then. I am making it my mission to figure out this drum break and make it sound as close to what it is supposed to. This video is helping immensely. Thank you snare science! <3

Nice! Just missing one little thing, there is a crescendo starting on the flam drag right after the buzz part!

Thanks, really enjoyed the breakdown & clear explanations!

You could be right.... although in this video it really does look like a stock decrescendo triplet roll after the missing partial: watch?v=cSoDIWP6nc8. It is really difficult to pick out the buzz sticking from this video, but I am putting my trust in Atomikfzr as he is pretty beastly at transcribing.
