So if you’re looking at picking up a set of these Xbox wireless gaming headphones, I’m going to do an unboxing, full review, sound and mic tests. Along with comfort, design, setup and battery life. I will even do a mic comparison with the Astro A20s and Arctis 7s.

Good review mate. Only thing you missed was the MS use a proprietary wireless communication protocol to connect Xbox controllers and headphones. Bluetooth is added for phones, tablets and laptops. 👍

The sound quality out of the box was amazing, maybe I'm just not used to good quality headphones but they sounded phenomenal to me.

Thanks for the tip regarding installing the Dolby App to get the "Xbox Headset" working great. They become available in a couple of weeks where I am and I have been considering getting the dolby app anyway because I suddenly have a lot of 4K HDR movies with Dolby Atmos audio that would benefit from the audio upgrade.

The Xbox mic actually sounds a lot better than I was expecting 🙂

I know I'm like a year late here, but to add a few things: If you have a long enough USB C cable, you can indeed use it wired on a PC without the need for bluetooth (which uses the worse codec possible). Alternatively, you can use the Xbox Wireless adapter for PC as well to achieve the same quality as wired. Also, you can have both your Xbox Audio and bluetooth audio working at the same time, which is pretty cool.

Very useful and well done review, I have now returned my Arctis 9x as the crackling and disconnects were a nightmare and I picked up a pair of these. They actually work!! I did watch to the end :)

Having both these and the pulse 3d for the ps5.

I like the xbox ones more for 2 reason:
1. No dongle
2. Connection to 2 devices at once. Being in a group discord call while listening to gameplay. With the ps5 I'm having to use my earbuds and the pulses, quite uncomfortable.

the sound quality out of the box wasn't bad at all. but yeah of course if you want to have better sound, adjust the settings. also when it comes to the tightness on the head, most new headphones do that, that is not a deal breaker, as that tightness goes away at some point of usage. i've noticed people always mention that, now granted some headphones may not be uncomfortable out the box, but again, as time goes by that goes away.
